Vital Green Farms is the only independent organic dairy farm left in Alberta, and they produce some wonderful dairy. We've been carrying their yogurts for a while now and have now expanded our catalogue to include certified organic milk, cheeses, and buttermilk. The Vital Green Farm is a haven for milk cows! Joe and Caroline Mans absolutely love their cows and give them plenty of room to roam. With an average of 1 cow/acre, the cows love them too, and they produce amazing non-homogenized milk, which is not only bottled but made into the yogurts and cheeses that we love.
Cultured buttermilk is made by adding bacterial culture to organic dairy milk. The tartness of buttermilk is due to acid in the milk. The increased acidity is primarily due to lactic acid produced by lactic acid bacteria while fermenting lactose, the primary sugar in milk. This is a 3.8% M.F. buttermilk that is non-homogenized and slow-pasteurized. Separation is completely natural, so shake well before drinking, and enjoy! Expires within a minimum of 5 days.
This is an amazing heavy cream with a 52% butterfat content. Great for pouring over berries, or granola. Thick and sweet. </br></br> Expires within a minimum of 5 days.
