Forstbauer Farm is a large Certified Organic vegetable producer, supplying three wholesalers with beets, sugar pumpkins, cucumbers, zucchini, beans, chard and a wide variety of other vegetables. Mary and her husband Hans have managed to run it and also raise twelve children, an accomplishment in and of itself. The farm is certified organic with the Biodynamic Association of BC, which Mary is very involved with. She is also the driving force behind the BC Certified Organic check mark logo. The check mark is used by farms that are certified by a BC certifying body as a way of distinguishing homegrown produce on store shelves. If that wasn't enough, Mary also runs farm stands at several Lower Mainland farmers’ markets, bringing early spring greens and over-winter crops in June and maintaining the booth all the way into October with potatoes, pickling cukes, freshly dug carrots and bunch beets, rainbow chard and Asian greens.
