PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

As a web developer, you will assist with a wide variety of tasks including design, front-end and back-end development, and general support/maintenance of web projects. It’s a very dynamic role for the right candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deploy changes to development servers frequently
  • Create and work with Django templates with compliant HTML5/CSS3
  • Model and implement intricate data structures using relational databases, primarily PostgreSQL
  • Identify, prioritize and correct issues
  • Plan, direct and implement new features and functionality
  • Co-ordinate work across all our technology partners
  • Write complex Django apps following community development best practices
  • Implement and maintain the use of common third-party APIs
  • Stay on top of the latest technologies
  • Help set up and run projects in production environments on Linux (Ubuntu-flavour) with Nginx, UWSGI, PostgreSQL, Celery, Redis and other tools frequently deployed alongside Django web apps
  • Help architect scalable solutions and performance-test applications to find and eliminate bot

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

What you bring to the table:

  • 2-3 years of web development experience
  • 1+ years of experience with Shopify as a platform. We love fast learners but some platform experience is a must.
  • Languages: Python, Javascript, HTML/CSS, Shopify Liquid
  • Framework: Django
  • Experience with Linux systems, Ansible, Nginx, uWSGI
  • Asynchronous task handling: Celery and Redis/rabbitmq
  • Database: PostgreSQL
  • Services: Github/git, AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Cloudfront, Route53)

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

The Warehouse Manager will be based in our Edmonton office and is responsible for supervising both salaried and hourly employees on multiple shifts in handling and processing facility in order to achieve production workloads with an emphasis on quality, yields, efficiencies, as well as food and employee safety.

PLEASE NOTE:

This job is based on our Edmonton, AB Head Office. Because of our location and hours, a vehicle is a requirement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

PLANNING:

  • Plan staffing requirements for a department on a daily and weekly basis in order to achieve production volumes provide daily production schedules.
  • Conduct labour costing analysis and schedule labour hours in accordance with department budget figures.
  • Ensure all scheduled production loads are prepared on time and in accordance with shipping and delivery schedules.
  • Direct the employees in the operation of plant equipment to meet quality, efficiency and yield standards, HACCP and sanitation procedures
  • Take ownership for product quality and standards as well as yield and efficiency targets, ensure regular maintenance of equipment
  • Judge shorts vs subs and be coordinated with Inventory Team and Produce Buyer
  • Ensure that customer quality and error complaints are processed and resolved on a daily basis
  • Deal first hand with customer complaint escalations on a daily basis
  • Document daily/weekly/monthly progress with reports and visual metrics for production staff that are easy to see and understand
  • Hold regular meetings with Operations Manager to report on actual versus estimates on metrics and initiatives

LEADERSHIP:

  • Train employees on job specifics provide orientation to new hires on basic safety and quality, evaluate performance and arrange coaching or re-training if required, develop personal growth opportunities
  • Ensure Health & Safety by ensuring machinery and equipment are safe and employees are trained and qualified on machinery and equipment prior to working, in accordance with established safe work procedures, company policies and applicable provincial standards
  • Provide leadership by communicating organizational and team goals and objectives, foster good staff relationships in order to gain commitment from employees - develop, lead and coach employees through effective training and recognition
  • Active involvement and leadership in the Continuous Improvement Program to achieve productivity improvements and waste reduction
  • Hold team/crew meetings on a regular basis and document meetings - conduct performance reviews for employees

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT:

  • Monitor facility technical needs are adequately and maintain equipment to ensure operational readiness
  • Evaluate and develop operational policies and procedures to ensure the most efficient and effective processing of delivery orders; control of damages, errors and mis-picks; and excellence in customer service levels.
  • Oversee all facets of the operation to ensure products get properly picked, packaged, and delivered to customers on time. Direct daily delivery operations, staffing and resources to accomplish delivery scheduled within the assigned delivery area(s). Achieve the performance goals and objectives set for assigned location(s).

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

What you bring to the table:

  • Previous experience in the produce industry or food processing/food handling experience is MANDATORY
  • 3+ years of supervisory work experience, supply chain experience is an asset!
  • Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse management, inventory control and transportation management
  • Effective communication skills to lead, motivate, coach, mentor and resolve employee conflict
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of HACCP, Food Safe and OHS programs and requirements
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Analytical skills and familiarity with financial reports
  • Knowledge of modern labour management practices
  • Willingness to participate in professional development courses as required
