I spend most of the summer at our fruit farm in BC but this week I am back in Edmonton to check in with everyone and spend some time in the warehouse. &#160;As I take a long look all the great food we have out on our packing line and in the coolers I am excited by how much is local and coming directly from our partner farms. &#160;From multi-generational farmers like Eric and Ruby from Peas on Earth and Ty and Janice from Sandsprings Ranch, to craft growers like James and Jenny from Sundog Organics, to new growers like Mandy Melnyk from Meadowcreek Farms, we are continuing to see how your support for local organic food is translating into more food being grown just for you and your families every year. <strong>Holiday Crunch</strong> Local eating and summer can be a contradiction for many families - although we want very much to support local, we also tend to leave on holidays when most of our local food is in peak season. &#160;At The Organic Box we try to be as flexible as possible with our members so you can build a delivery schedule that works for you. &#160;However, it is also important to our growers that they have buyers for the food they&#160;have grown. &#160; This week we have a thousand families on holidays - that translates into a significant amount of food going unsold. &#160;Please ensure that you are giving us as much notice as possible for your holidays, and ask yourself if you really need to stop your box or if you can find someone to take it for you. &#160;We are always happy to donate your food on your behalf to any of our charity partners like the Edmonton Food Bank, the Youth Empowerment and Support Services, the Bissell Centre, or the Ronald MacDonald House for families of sick children. &#160;If you would prefer to donate your box instead of cancelling it, just send us a quick note and we can make that happen for you. <strong>Festival Season</strong> This year we are so very excited to bring our message about sustainable eating and local organic to the Edmonton Folk Festival and the Edmonton Fringe Festival. &#160;Our signature Fruit Truck will be at these events along with our awesome&#160;organic fruit options. &#160;Find us at the events - buy some cherries, enter our #Fruitphotobomb contest, get a T-Shirt and spread the word about The Organic Box! <p style="color: #3d3d3d;">At The Organic Box we are always growing, always looking for ways to get better, and always trying to find ways to fill more of your shopping basket with Alberta and BC food products.&#160; We are growing better together!</p> <p style="color: #3d3d3d;">Have&#160;a Great Week!</p> <p style="color: #3d3d3d;">Danny.
