We call this our 'Fair Deal' - fair for the growers, fair for us and fair for the member. Since the new year we have been experiencing substantial growth and so we must balance serving our existing members against bringing on new families. The best way to ensure this is to manage our rate of growth using a waitlist. Many of you who have been with us since 2011 will remember we had a similar challenge in the spring of that year too. Currently we have over 100 families on our waitlist. We have broken the weeks intosegments and if you look at our signup page you will see what week we are projecting your first delivery if you signup today. Our mission is to bring our food to everyone and anyone who wants it and we pledge to bring as many people on as possible.

At The Organic Box we are always growing, always looking for ways to get better, and always trying to find ways to get more of your shopping basket filled by Alberta and BC food producers. We can do it! You are helping!

Havea Great Week!

Danny.
Founder, The Organic Box.

FeaturedProducts

Wildcrafted Treats

Through Mona Foods we are able to enjoy delicious mushrooms all year long. However, now is the season for wildcrafted products and Mona brings us fiddleheads and ramps for the next couple of weeks. These beauties are wildcrafted from forests and meadows throughout coastal and interior BC!

Fiddleheads are loaded with iron and potassium, are extremely delicious, and very easy to cook (just make sure you cook them! DO NOT eat raw). Gently brush away any brown scales, wash under cold water, and trim the woody stems. Then steam or sautee (cook similar to asparagus) and enjoy!

Ramps are a wild leek and have verystrong garlic flavourand aroma. They provide fantastic flavour to any stirfry, soup, quiche... etc.

Fresh Roasted Coffee

Recently the staff here at The Organic Box have had a bit of an education regarding 'fresh' coffee, and simultaneous went on a mission to find locally roasted coffee to provide for you all! It's been amazing adventure, and after a few coffee sweats, we are excited to provide fresh roasted coffee from Earth's General Store (certified organic and Fair Trade) and soon from NXT Roasters (a very unique roasting method thatyields incredible coffee).

Unbeknownst to us, coffee goes 'stale' relatively quickly. It is at it's freshest for about 5-7 days after roasting, and has a very unique taste (very smooth and creamy... you hardly need any sweeteners or cream for fresh coffe). Therefore, we are packaging all of our fresh roasted coffee is smaller packages that an average coffee drinking household should be able to go through in one week. This guarantees from us that when you order coffee from us, it will be as fresh as possible. Hooray!

New Products

Not only do we have amazing new sweeteners (for you coffee! Ha!), we also have great new products for every to try... such as Skipjack and Tongol Tuna (sustainable caught), and organic polenta. So why not cut up some polenta discs, spoon some tuna on top, and add a bit of fresh cut tomatoes (or salsa)... then grill them in the oven for a few minutes. Delicious!
