Something New - Certified Organic Meat.

This week we start our new partnership with Sunworks Farm. Ron, Shelia and their chief butcher Carlos have put together a variety of set boxes that showcase the best of their pasture-raised, certified organic beef and chicken. Each box is priced by weight. Prices shown here are average and the final price of your box will be reflected on your invoice after your order has been completed in The Organic Box warehouse. Meat boxes will be delivered alongside your Organic Box.

Boxes cannot be customized. If you would like to have a custom order built for you, please visit Sunworks at any of their many farmers' market outlets or at Blush Lane Market on Whyte Avenue in Edmonton.

Boxes are approximately 3 to 5 kg each and will fit easily into your kitchen freezer or chest deep freezer. All products must be kept frozen until ready to prepare. If you have any questions or comments about our partnership with Sunworks Farm please get in touch with our office.

To see the products we have, look for the 'Sunworks Farm Meats' category on the left bar on the Choose Your Box page.

.

<img title="Holiday Stops" border="20" alt="Holiday Stops" align="left" src="/uploadedImages/009_-_This_Week/Holiday_Stops.png" width="220" height="268" />Holiday Plans.

We never stop delivering! This year we will be running our usual delivery schedule which means deliveries on Boxing Day, January 2 and all the days in between. We will be closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day. If you are planning a trip away this year or won't need a box during the two weeks around the holidays please let us know now by using the 'Holiday Stops' function on the member page.

By taking the time now to let us know your schedule we can better plan our staffing, production and harvest plans to ensure we don't under or over-estimate these weeks. Usually we see a 30% drop in deliveries over the holidays. And don't worry, you can always change your mind right up until your order closes for the week, so let us know now and then if things change just log back in and update your schedule. We will really appreciate it.

Our Mobile Site has Launched

Finally after months of testing we have launched our mobile 'Choose Your Box' site. Now, when you login to your order page on your mobile device you will be sent our site with larger fonts and easier navigation. If you still want to use the old site click the link at the bottom of the page. Its been a long haul to get here but have fun ordering all those awesome treats on the bus or in the bathtub. We aim to please!

(REALLY, I MEAN IT: ONE LAST TIME) Its time for Winter Delivery Instructions

<img style="WIDTH: 600px; HEIGHT: 334px" title="Snowy Van" alt="Snowy Van" src="/uploadedImages/009_-_This_Week/snowyvan.jpg" width="600" height="334" />

I promise this will be the last time I remind everyone about delivery instructions, but unfortunately this week we lost one of our vans due to unplowed roads. We do our very best to accommodate everyone, rural and city, but we need your help to make every delivery a success. All our vans are equipped with snow tyres, but they are rear wheel drive and extremely heavy when fully loaded. We do our best to control costs and prices to our members by making each delivery route as efficient as possible and only budget 6 minutes per stop. Time lost due to mishaps like this or getting lost trying to find an address can cost us all.

You can help! Update your delivery instructions for winter today! If you live in a rural location please ensure your drive is plowed and sanded, and if we get in touch to ask you to pick up at one of our central drop points due to road conditions please understand why we are asking. It took me hours in a cold, dark snowstorm to get this van out of the ditch and we needed the help of two tow trucks.

Your box won't survive in -10C weather for more than 30 minutes outside. Some alternatives to your front step include:

We can put it in your garage if you have a keypad entry system.

We can leave it with a specified neighbour if you aren't home.

If you aren't home, we can bring it back to the warehouse and you can pick it up from our warehouse on Wednesday to Fridays during business hours and 9-1pm on Saturdays.

Something else creative that you can devise!

Boxes without winter delivery instructions will be left on the front step if you aren't home, so please take the time to update your instructions and let us know what you would like us to do for you. Delivery instructions can be updated by clicking the 'My Account' button on the right hand side of the Choose Your Box page.

Please remember that our normal delivery hours are noon to 10pm, so if you are expecting your box and it is getting dark, please turn on your porch light for our drivers to see. If we can't see your house number or if your front steps aren't safe, we will have trouble getting your box of food to you this winter.

At The Organic Box we are always growing, always looking for ways to get better, and always trying to find ways to get more of your shopping basket filled by Alberta and BC food producers. We can do it! You are helping!

Have a Great Week!

Danny.
Founder, The Organic Box.

Featured Local Producers

<img title="Christmas_Oranges" alt="Christmas_Oranges" src="/uploadedImages/009_-_This_Week/Christmas Oranges.jpg" />

Mandarin Oranges

A perennial favorite!
