Nearly all Local now.

August is upon us and so is the harvest. Lots of good things coming for our local producers. This week, 80% of the items in your box are from local producers. The balance are from independant farms and producers and brought to Edmonton specifically for our members. In two to three weeks we will be completely local from Alberta produce growers and BC organic fruit farms. Fall is our favourite time of year at The Organic Box because we are ensuring that every food dollar spent with us stays in our local economy and gives our local growers the opportunity to get top dollar for their hard work through the spring and summer. Organic food production in Alberta is still less than 1% of all agricultural output, but since this time last year we have tripled the amount of local, organic food that is being grown and consumed in our city through our box program. Many thanks to everyone who is supporting us and our growers. We are making a real difference to the family farm in Alberta.

Summer Fruit Box

With the BC Fruit harvest finally underway (4 weeks late!) we will be re-introducing the Summer Fruit Box in full this year. At $40, it will include an excellent variety of cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums, melons, blueberries, apples, pears and raspberries from our local and Okanagan organic fruit growers. The fruit box is an great way to provide your family with an excellent selection of BC fruit through the season and as different fruits start and finish you'll see them appear in your box. Last year we ran the box every 2 weeks, but this year we are expecting enough volume to be able to offer it every week. If you would like it added to your regular delivery, please contact our office.

Our total list of items allows you to mix and match to make your perfect box of Organic produce. When we can't get it locally, I find sustainably-produced food from non-local farms and bring it here. Good, real food, available year-round and bought from small farms and producers at a fair price.

<img style="WIDTH: 305px; HEIGHT: 223px" title="Sub" alt="Sub" src="/uploadedImages/009_-_This_Week/Sundog.jpg" width="305" height="223" />

Sundog Organic Farm

Edmonton, AB

New this week Arugula and Cilantro!

"At Sundog Organic Farm we grow the best tasting vegetables we can for our Edmonton community.
