Holiday Hours
We are open and delivering as usual this Remembrance Day. Our team is working hard on this holiday so make sure you give us nice big orders this week to fill the vans!
Banana Woes
This week we have no bananas. Unfortunately, the sea containers used to ship them from Peru have been delayed due to improper servicing - the Diesel engines that power the coolers were filled with contaminated fuel and some have exploded. Four dock workers have been killed in explosions in South American ports due to this problem. Our first repaired sea container arrived in Vancouver on Friday but we won't have any bananas ready until after Remembrance Day. Instead of buying Dole or other bananas on the commodity exchange we have decided to skip a week of bananas and offer more local vegetables.
Winter is coming
The weather is really changing this week. On Thursday night it dipped below minus 10 at Peas on Earth. That is the killing frost. Danny was at the farm in the afternoon before and everyone was working furiously to fill the three storage trailers we have set aside for winter storage. Carrots, Kale and Beets hopefully to last us the entire winter. Winter is coming and its time to start thinking about your winter delivery instructions. You can update your instructions by clicking 'My Account' on the Choose Your Box page, or send us an email. If you aren't home during your regular delivery time, we can leave it in your garage, leave it with a neighbour, in a shed, or anything you like. Boxes without winter delivery instructions will be left on your front step if you aren't home.
Pickup your box this winter
Pickups are available Wednesday to Friday from 10am to 5pm, or Saturdays from 9am to 1pm (Saturdays starting November 5). Please also let us know which day of the week you will pickup so we can have it ready when you arrive and you get the freshest food we have available.
New this Week

One of our featured producers is the Fernwood Coffee Crew.
