Important Delivery Day Changes

As we move into our fifth full growing season, we have taken a look at our delivery days and routes and have decided to make three adjustments to our schedule to better serve everyone. Please read below to see if this change affects you.

1. St Albert Moving to Tuesday

The support in St Albert for our program continues to be overwhelming! We are so grateful to everyone who joins our program and supports our alternative food system, and in St Albert our growth is very strong. Currently we send half our delivery fleet to St Albert on Wednesday but it still isn't enough to service everyone so we have decided to open a new delivery day on Tuesdays and move the entire city of St Albert to a Tuesday delivery day.

Therefore, effective APRIL 15, 2013, we will move St Albert delivery slots from Wednesday to TUESDAY EVENING. The order window for Tuesdays will now close on MONDAY at 9:00 am and your boxes will be packed for delivery on TUESDAY afternoon. This change includes the pick-up location at <a title="Sweet Momma Spa" href="http://www.sweetmomma.com/" target="_blank">Sweet Momma Spa.

2. Mill Woods Moving to Wednesday

Mill Woods originally started with a few stops on a Thursday night, then grew to its own route on Friday, and now there are three active delivery routes each week. This area of Edmonton has now grown to a size where we need to send more vans to service our members there and so it will be moving from Friday evenings to the open slots on Wednesday left by moving St Albert.

Therefore, effective APRIL 16, 2013, we will move the Mill Woods delivery slot from Friday to WEDNESDAY. The order window for Mill Woods will now close on Monday at 12:00 noon and the boxes will be packed for delivery on WEDNESDAY afternoon and evening.

If you are impacted by either of these changes you have been contacted directly by the office with details about your new delivery day and time. If you have any questions about how this change will affect you, please get in touch with our office and we will be happy to assist you.

3. Our Office Will Be Opening Seven Days a Week

As part of this reorganisation, we will be opening our doors seven days a week. Currently, our office is only open from Tuesday to Saturday. After reviewing the results of our member feedback survey this spring, and with the expansion of our delivery days to including Tuesday, we have decided to open our doors every day of the week, and also to keep the office open until late on delivery days. This change will take effect at the end of April and will provide much more flexibility for picking up boxes at our warehouse and getting in touch with us when there is a problem with your delivery.

Frequently-Asked Questions about this change:

Q: Will quality of my food suffer as a result of this change?
A: We receive food deliveries several times a week, including a trailer from Vancouver every day. Food delivered to our members is received only one or two days before delivery. Several of our local producers provide several orders per week to ensure that no one receives week-old food in their Box. Baked goods are delivered fresh every day.

Q: What if I absolutely cannot make a this new delivery slot for my household?
A: If this change is absolutely unworkable for your household, please contact our office. We are flexible and will see what options are available to you.

Spread the Word, We Are Changing the World

Over the past few months I have written about a few key issues that make us different and our members special. Here are my favourites, and I hope you will share our thoughts with your loved ones this month:

Sustainability: How We Are Sustainable

Food Security: Food Security in Our Region

True Cost Accounting: <a title="Pay the Full Price for Your Food" href="/this-week-at-the-The-Organic-Box-archive-item.aspx?id=1630" target="_blank">Pay the True Price for Your Food

Understanding Organics and GMO Food: <a title="Organic Means No GMO" href="/this-week-at-the-The-Organic-Box-archive-item.aspx?id=1604" target="_blank">Organic Means No GMO

Our Alternative Food System: <a title="Why we are Different" href="/this-week-at-the-The-Organic-Box-archive-item.aspx?id=1511" target="_blank">How We Are Different

By being a member of our food family, you can have confidence that your food dollar is going towards real people who are producing real food and working every day to change our relationship with our food and our health. Our members are our best advocates and you can give your friends and loved ones the gift of real food this month.

At The Organic Box we are always growing, always looking for ways to get better, and always trying to find ways to fill more of your shopping basket with Alberta and BC food producers. We can do it! You are helping!

Have a Great Week!

Danny.
Founder, The Organic Box.

Featured Products and Producers:

 <img title="GarlicShoots" alt="GarlicShoots" src="/uploadedImages/009_-_This_Week/Garlic Shoots 3rd Cut 2.jpg" />

Oh "Shoot-s"!

Every week, you find a different shoot in your box.
