Back to School, Back to Normal
We are back to our regular order schedule this week, which means daily trucks from Vancouver and all of our local producers bringing their products per normal. Thanks to everyone for being flexible with us over the holidays and if you were missing something or it wasn't good enough make sure we know about it so we can make it right for you. We've had a mild week but winter is coming back so if you don't have updated winter delivery instructions on your account make sure you take the time to update them. Boxes without delivery instructions are left on the front step andwill freeze if left too long. We rely on you to tell us what to do if you aren't home when we arrive. Look in 2013 for a new GPS-based routing system for the vans that will let you know on your account page when your box is planned for delivery and notify you when it has been delivered, but in the meantime make sure your have updated instructions. Over the holidays we had about 200 new families signup for our service so we are rebalancing some of our routes to make room for everyone. This means your areamay bechanging delivery day - ifyou are affected we will be sending you an email telling you about the change andwhen it will takeeffect. We try to make the box afamily experience and deliveries at 10pmdon't work for anyoneso balancing the routes and days will help us avoid those late nights.
Organic Farming in Alberta is a year-round industry. Lets buy year-round too.

Growers in Alberta spend their winters on maintenance, soil work, crop planning, and looking after the dollars and cents of the year behind them and the year in front. We want to continue to expand our ability to grow, store and distribute local organic food in the Winter months. Your support of our program is making that happen. Some of the investments that we have enabled include: * new storage trailers at Peas on Earth farm in St Albert for Potatoes, Carrots and Beets * new four-season greenhouses for tomatoes and cucumbers at Noble Spuds in Coaldale * new organic dairy processing in Ponoka by Rock Ridge Dairy * expanded greenhouses for herbs, sprouts and microgreens at Sunrise Gardens in Onoway Your support also enabled us to move into an expanded warehouse on the southside of Edmonton with thousands of square feet for local growers to store items over the winter if they don't have their own storage. Your support has made this happen and on behalf of the industry we are so grateful. Thank you. At The Organic Box we are always growing, always looking for ways to get better, and always trying to find ways to get more of your shopping basket filled by Alberta and BC food producers. We can do it! You are helping! Havea Great Week! Danny. They are sea vegetables formed into raw noodles and are fat-free, gluten-free, and very low in carbs and calories. They absorb the taste of the dishes that you cook it with and add satisfying crunch to any salad, stir-fry, hot soup, or casserole. Also try out coconut milk for a spicy Thai curry dish, or some of our spice-rubs to dress uproast veggies or your favourite fish recipe.
