It starts with the Grain. Hull-less barley is grown under strict quality and agronomic practices to ensure a high quality grain. Cross contamination with other grains are controlled in order to maintain identity preserve status. The barley is cleaned and lightly pearled. It is put through multi-staged cooking process in kettles and ovens that are specially designed for our barley. The end result is light and porous grain that easily absorbs water during cooking to produce a soft textured product that is very similar to rice.

Quick cooking Barley has a neutral taste and will absorb any spice flavour that it is cooked in. Barley is the top recommended grain with the Diabetes Association mainly due the low glycemic index and high soluble fibre which helps regulate blood glucose level. The high fibre content also may also reduce the risk cardiovascular disease through cholesterol reduction. Hull-less barley’s high protein content (7g/ serving) provides more menu options for vegetarians.
