- To connect our members with Alberta organic farmers and the local organic food community through fresh quality produce delivered directly to their doors.
- To support local organic growers in order to promote a healthy, sustainable and vibrant food community that is kind to the environment.
- To provide you with information about where your food is coming from - connecting you with farmers and maintaining communication with growers.
- To bridge the gap between the consumer and organic farms. We operate like a virtual farmers' market all year round.
- To encourage local farms to transition towards organic farming practices, by purchasing their produce and distributing it to our members.
We started this journey to re-connect with the source of our food and to do something we could feel good about. Only in operation since May 2010 and already blessed with an incredible membership of people who truly make it worthwhile! We hope that everyone will come on this journey with us as we explore our local organic food producers and find ways to eat sustainably.
We are local. We buy locally first, we partner with local producers, and we work with other local business such as insurance, vehicle purchases/maintenance, administrative services, fuel for our delivery fleet and many other with small, independant business in Edmonton and area. We love our community and we want to keep as much of every dollar you spend with us in Edmonton as possible.
When we say local first, we mean Edmonton and surrounding areas. However, we also redefine local by buying from people who act locally in their own communities (own their own land, pay their workers living wages, with the money staying in their communities). Our purchases have a meaningful impact to the producers that we buy from.
OUR TEAM
The Organic Box is family-owned and operated. We pay our team members a living wage and provide everyone with access to health insurance. We also provide generous discounts for our team to ensure that they have access to the high-quality healthy food we provide our members.
The Organic Box is a team of energetic, inspired people whose passion is to bring you the best locally and sustainably produced organic food. We have a delivery fleet of five vans and a small warehouse on the southside of Edmonton.
